Since 1970, Lindsey-Cooper Refrigeration School has been a leader in the field of training service technicians for the HVAC industry.

Our students come from a variety of backgrounds. Many have no knowledge of HVAC, some
have very basic information, and some have had hands on experience.

>> LAB WORK

About 80 percent of an HVAC technicians work is with electricity. So during the second week the emphasis will be on learning the flow of electricity.

  • You will analyze and test capacitors
  • Use an ohm meter to determine common, start
    and run windings on compressors
  • Diagnose compressors for open, short, or a ground
  • Electrically wire and locate problems in different trainers

In the lab there are several stations called "trainers". Here is where you will actually put into practice what you learned in the classroom. You will physically wire the different electrical components. When you have practiced these, you will then be required to wire the trainer for the instructor without notes!

Additionally you will have the opportunity to

  • Solder, swage, and flare copper tubing
  • Use an oxyacetylene torch
  • Charge beverage coolers and residential air conditioning units

Full Time/Part Time Days Class Hours Length
FULL-TIME DAY COURSES Mon-Sat 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 2 Weeks in length
PART-TIME NIGHT CLASS Tues/Wed/Thurs 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. 12 Weeks in length
PART-TIME SAT CLASS Saturdays only 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 12 Weeks in length
PART-TIME SPANISH CLASS Saturdays only 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. 12 Weeks in length
The EPA course is held once a month. This includes a class and testing for Federal EPA certification. Because your certification is through the EPA, a Federal Agency of the US Government, your certification is valid in all 50 states. The country of Canada recognizes your EPA certification as valid in Canada as well.

In addition, we are very proud of the quality of students that have graduated from our course. We are so confident of our success that we will supply, upon request, a list of the last graduating class so that you may call any former student and let them tell you about the course.
